CRS BREEZE UP – KLAWERVLEI STUD

There is one colt amongst a batch of seven unbroken 2yo’s despatched by Klawervlei, (acting as agent) to Hollywoodbets Durbanville on the 27th October 2024 for the Cape Racing Sales Breeze Up auction starting at 14h00.

That colt is by super-sire, Vercingetorix and enters as Lot 96. Dam, Rubybay is a half-sister to Seventh Rock, star G1 winning sprinter and sire. Her 2nd dam is Ruby Clipper, who caused a sensation in SA from 1997 – 2000 when scooping multiple G1 sprints on the Highveld and in KZN.

Lot 71 is also by Vercingetorix, out of Heaps of Fun. Highlight of the dam’s racing career was a notable victory in the G2 Gauteng Fillies Guineas.

Royal Mo was the Leading Second Season Sire in SA – the best of his progeny is tough Stakes-winning miler, Royal Aussie. He covered I’m Serious (a sister to Captain of All – Champion Sprinter in SA in 2014/15) and the result is an unnamed filly entered as Lot 73.

A bay Pomodoro ex Oaks heroine, Princess of Light comes next. Lot 93 has a stamina- packed page filled with Black Type, mainly through remarkable second dam, Star of Arcole who counts SA Oaks winner Ash Cloud; WSB 1900 victor, Pacaya; Turffontein Acacia Stakes winner, Silver Hills and Arcola, who also won the SA Oaks, amongst her success stories.

Lot 98, by Vercingetorix, is particularly intriguing. Dam, Sea Glitter is a three-quarter sister to Kentucky Derby 50/1 upset winner, Giacomo when ridden by turf legend, Mike Smith. All her foals to race are winners, including the fleet-footed, Mirage and Shipholia.

Call Me Secret (Lot 114) is a first foal by Gimmethegreenlight ex Sovereign Secret, and thus from the prolific, Secret of Victoria/All is Secret dam-line. Gimmethegreenlight has been the Champion Sire in SA three times so this is a potent pedigree bound to attract extra special attention.

Lot 116 is a Vercingetorix filly ex Captain Al mare, African Daisy, with stacks of Irish quality deeper down the generations. To illustrate, third dam, Ebaziya foaled two champion stayers: Estimate (in 2013, he was top of the European distance rankings) and Enzeli (was best of the Irish marathon runners in 2000) so there is plenty of endurance on this page.
