Shepherd can’t stop raving about Lot 20!

Anton Shepherd of Beaumont Stud is always careful of not booming up his yearlings, but the affable breeder hasn’t been as excited about a horse in a long time as he is about a colt by Rafeef coming to the Cape Premier Yearling Sale, powered by Tattersalls, this week.

The yearling in reference is a son of Rafeef (Lot 20), by Caesour out of Elusive Spirit. “He is a big, strong horse, very nice and well grown, from the tremendous ‘E’-family. I think he is tops, I really do. Even at this early stage I am prepared to say he is one of my yearlings of the year, if not the yearling of the year,” enthused Shepherd.

The other Beaumont offering at the auction is Lot 97, a colt by Futura out of Submergence, by Captain Al – he is her second foal. “He is a well-balanced colt from a half-sister to the very fast Graduation Day. He is well put-together and correct.”

Shepherd added: “Both my colts have no issues, they will do buyers proud.”
